I have tickets (a ticket) for Metric's all-ages show (the website having given me exactly the inverse of the actual facts), though Hawksley Workman was sold out before I got to him. Thanks to this local music weblog's excellent sidebar, which lists upcoming Vancouver concerts, I went with my sister last friday to a controller.controller show (opened by the excellently named You Say Party! We Say Die!), which was really good, and I'm very tempted to go to others. Here's what I find most interesting on the list right now:

  • 3/29 Beth Orton @ the Commodore
  • 4/2 Michael Franti (acoustic) @ the Commodore
  • 4/7 New Pornographers w/Corb Lund, the Weakerthans, the Salteens, and tba @ TBird Stadium
  • 4/20 Matthew Good (acoustic) @ the VECC (AA)
  • 4/24 Yeah Yeah Yeahs @ the Orpheum (AA)
  • 4/28 Franz Ferdinand w/Death Cab For Cutie @ Pacific Coliseum (AA)

Seeing as I want to have some money in Japan, I should probably limit myself to just one or two of those. The third is possibly most appealing; I'm not familiar with the other bands, but, the New Pornographers and the Weakerthans?

I've actually been to really few concerts in my life, by many standards; I wouldn't be surprised if it's fewer than ten (certainly that if I limit it to larger, well-known bands). If this keeps up, I won't be able to say that for long.

I've been in an interesting mode lately: self-conscious, but willing to say things anyway. I don't know how long it will last.

Okay, here's what the itinerary, which now I have in a rough and unfinalized form, says about that period:

Monday 8 arrive Kyoto

Tuesday 9 Kiyomizudera; Ginkakuji; Yasaka pagoda

Wednesday 10 Ohara, Sanzenin
