I thought, What should I say if someone responds to one of my entries with, "I love and hate you with equal and warring passions"?

After a moment's thought, I decided I'd probably say, "Well, thanks; you're pretty loathesome and cute yourself!"

Then I felt a little put out that it was so unlikely.

I find that I...love you. And that, irreconcilably, I hate you. The passion of both these feelings is unbelievable. The two halves of me are clashing--a constant, writhing, emotionally-bloody war. And I'm losing. I'm helpless.

I realize that this seems a little...extreme. But don't...take it to heart.

It's my problem, not yours.

Well, to be fair, you did also tell me not to worry about it. But you're right; such a raw yet articulate confession deserves more, and I'm sorry I've been so slow to offer it.

What can I do for you? Do you live near me? Perhaps I could treat you to dinner, and you could throw a glass of wine in my face.
