They don't show up on the 'reply' view; just the straight entry view. I have no idea why this is, but livejournal has been doing it for as long as I've had tags.
I actually think I haven't WLITFWed any other time, but if you find something that disproves me, let me know and I will tag it! (As evidenced by the existence of the tag, it became a standby of the weblog in my head much quicker than its prevalence really justified. Perhaps the same thing happened to you? I may also have invoked it in e-mail or other conversation.)
