If you like cold water, as I do, Lynn Canyon is an exceptionally beautiful place to swim. It's accessible by bus, too!
There's a popular swimming spot, found if you turn left off the suspension bridge, where the rock faces are close together but the water runs slow and clear and you can see down into a deep green chasm. It's sometimes full of loud young men daring each other to cannonball off the cliffs, but sometimes it's not.
You probably know this already, you do live on the North Shore...
