Political courtship
Jan. 2nd, 2006 01:24 pmA couple of days after Christmas, Blair Wilson, the Liberal candidate for my riding, came to our door. He introduced himself to my mother and asked her name, at which point she panicked, and shut the door in his face.
"What was your impression of him," I asked, "In the brief moments before you shooed him off?"
She pursed her lips. "Used car salesman."
We live in a very populous riding, though. If he means to personally visit every home in it, I'm pretty impressed.

P.S.

Date: 2006-01-06 04:40 am (UTC)I can't remember the impression I had of him from last election either. 'Though I think it was a good one overall, but last election I didn't want to vote for anyone besides Nicholas Simons. Now he's the provincial MP here. ^_^
Also, I got a call on behalf of Blair Wilson the other day. I wasn't home, so they left a message: "Hi, I'm phoning on behalf of Blair Wilson, we'd appreciate your support this election." They likely said that they were from the Liberals too. I don't remember.
Further also, I like the commercials on TV about "Why wouldn't you speak up when everyone is listening?" reminding us all to vote.
The end.
