Play is over, then

And it is a bittersweet thing. I miss everyone already.

Today, though, I met and spoke to a very nice girl who assured me quite confidently that I am not a banana at all, but a pomegranate. In your face, everyone else!

Dresden Dolls! Rock! A friend introduced me to them. They are a very eccentric group.

I've just recently begun to investigate them, after hearing them recommended several times by the lady who keeps a weblog I've long admired. Eccentric, indeed; I'm very taken with their song construction, especially in 'Coin-Operated Boy'.

He has named the only song of theirs I know, but by its merit alone, I am sold.

I'm very taken with their song construction...

How's that?

Coin-Operated Boy is probably the only song by theirs that's instantly recognizeable, to me. A friend introduced me to the group by commenting on the attractiveness of the female and then having me watch the video for that song. Then he had me check out another one of their videos (this time, a live event) so that I could see how their shows resemble performance art. I thought it was fantastic.

I mean that they are well put together. 'Coin-Operated' Boy does some things, musically and lyrically, which I think are enormously clever and well-executed, not to mention pretty distinct in my experience. It's kind of thrilling.

Oddly, I still have yet to see any of their videos. (Then again, I've only been properly aware of them for two weeks or so.)

...I want to see the music video! o_o

I seem to be a banana... I won a banana t-shirt and a rather good banana off a giant banana on Grafton St yesterday, by playing a banana game. Shame, as I love pomegranates...

...and I was just introduced to Dresden Dolls a few days ago, hurrah.

I don't actually know why a pomegranate, to be honest; to properly ask seemed almost untoward, or like I was fishing for compliments. It's a pretty sexy* fruit to be equated with, though, isn't it?

(* In one of the wider senses of the word.)

In your case, I have to ask: do you mean you were just introduced to their music, or...?

Introduced to the music. Still learning my way around the album.

And I definitely agree that pomegranates are sexy... I have a minor obsession with them, though it usually just makes me take numerous pictures of the lovely things. And paint them on all my clothes. Oh yes, and eat them... *grins*

You know, Michael told me all throughout our childhoods that I looked like a banana. It confused and annoyed me for years until I figured out what he was talking about, which was that I have a pointy face. ^_^ Weirdo.
