Helen is happy when she discovers that she has managed to completely mislead herself as to what her motives are. This is an awesome way in which to be mad.
The article Andy linked to explaining it said cushlamochree was first said by a cartoon character called Mr O'Malley, an Irish name... and while I don't know the word cushla, in irish gaelic 'mo chroi' (pronounced mo chree) means 'my heart'.
